There is a lot to be said about the importance of the sun and the creation of life on Earth, but regarding the health of the human body, it directly helps us in several important ways.
1.?Vitamin D
The sun is our natural dose of Vitamin D and can be taken in moderation, at certain times daily for optimal health. The sun?s UV rays will help build Vitamin D in your body so that you won?t need a supplement.
Most people don?t receive the recommended dose though which is something to pay attention to as having enough Vitamin D in our system is essential for many bodily functions.
About 20-30 minutes a day when the sun isn’t overhead?in the sky would be adequate. We should be able to fit this in whether it be by going to a park, eating lunch outside, walking the dog, etc.
Just be sure to wear chemical-free sunscreen to help protect your skin and be wise about the time of day that you go out and how long you stay out for.
Getting outside to enjoy the sun also invites you to reconnect to nature and its elements, which is another great health benefit.
2. Relieves stress and helps eliminate toxicity from the body
Did you know that spending time in the sun can help to reduce stress? Studies show that people are happier on sunny days. We can process our stressors better in the sunshine and will have a lesser chance of being stressed afterward.
Set up an outdoor picnic and bring some snacks. Bring awareness to your surroundings such as the swaying of the leaves on a trees.
3. Sunlight Can Reduce Cancer Risk
Being under the sun has gained a bad rep because many people do not practice safely.
If you go out in the peak of the day and stay too long allowing your skin to burn, it could potentially increase cancer risk.
It?s important to keep in mind though that sunshine can actually help reduce risk of developing other cancers too.
4. Sunshine Helps us to Sleep Better
You know the days where you feel exhausted after being out in the sun? This is because although the sun can be energizing, it can also help us to relax more.
Not only that but sunshine also helps adjust the biorhythm of our body clock. Some people will even wake up with the sun and fall asleep when it sets to stay in tune.
