Feeling tired lately? Have a mental fog? Your body could use some detoxification.
But here’s the good news. You don’t need to go through torturous routines, skipping foods and sipping on infusions all day long. Your kidneys and liver are doing a good enough job on their own to rid you off of any toxins. But to speed things up, and to give your body some support to maneuver through daily life toxins you could add some delicious, but very promising foods in your diet.
1. Grapefruit
Start your day with a ripe, ruby red grapefruit for breakfast. The pectin fiber found in grapefruits is great for detoxification. It binds to cholesterol, heavy metals and viruses making the job of liver and kidney much easier.
2. Berries
All berries are a great source of vitamin C and fiber. Loaded with antioxidants, these powerhouses are great to rid your body of any free radicals. Add in raspberries, goji berries, blueberries, strawberries and acai berries in your daily fruit mix.
3. Apple
Apples too are high in pectin, which binds to cholesterol and other heavy metals that may have leached into your body. Apples help eliminate toxic waste in the body and effectively cleanse the intestines.
4. Spinach
Low in calories but packed with nutrients, spinach is a great source of flavonoids that keep fat from oxidizing in the body. No wonder a certain Mr Popeye was seen munching on these, time after time.
5. Broccoli
Broccoli with its great share of sulforaphane is great to fight off infectious cells in the body. Broccoli can also boost liver function by aiding it to clear bad chemicals in the body.
6. Avocado
Loaded with antioxidants, this nutrient dense food decreases the risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
