How Healthy People Find Time to Include Fitness in their Daily Lifestyle
We all want to be healthy, but we also recognize that it can take time and effort. Many people?feel that there simply is not enough time in the day to accomplish everything. We?ve all been there. ?So much to do… So little time?. However, what if we could become prioritizing professionals – allowing us to complete our most important goals of the day and maybe even more. To do so can be?easy. Consider what matters to you most, and make the time for it. For us, health is at the top of our lists.? Often people tend to wonder, how do others have so much time to work out? But what if we switch that perspective. Perhaps it?s not that they have so much time, but rather that they make the time because it is important to them.
Because in reality, we can make excuses or we can make time.
This involves taking full ownership of our wellbeing.
Healthy people have time for the gym because… they make time. They consider it to be a top priority in their life.
They know that the time they dedicate to be physically active helps them to feel good short and long term and is therefore well-worth the commitment.
As you?re reading this your mind may already be coming up with all the reasons why your situation is different, how you truly ?don?t have the time?. Sound familiar?
Granted, we all have various crazy schedules, so here are some life hacks to help make more time in your every day life.
1. Set an Intention
Intention is the seed of our actions. Spend time thinking about why it is important for you to make time to be healthy. It can be because you know that it feels good and will do good for your mind, body, and soul. It can be because you love your family and want to do what you can to ensure you enjoy a long and healthy life with them. Also consider how setting a strong example will inspire others around you.
Once you have ?your whys?, write them down or have pictures to remind you daily of why you will stay consistent and committed to your goals.
2.?Put it in your Calendar
How much more likely are you to do something if it is written down as a To Do? Whether it be in your calendar, planner, or on a sticky note, the act of writing or adding ?work out? adds valued energy. You?ve mentally told yourself that you will do this!
3. Think Positive
Maybe you?ve already tried writing it down in your calendar, only to ignore it once you feel worn out from the day. Thankfully, our minds can overpower our muscles here. Psychologists suggest that actively editing negative self-talk patterns is a powerful way to support healthier lifestyle choices. For example, anytime you catch yourself thinking, ?I am too busy to work out,? rephrase the thought in more positive, empowering terms, such as, ?I choose to make myself and my health a priority.? Or, ?I do have time to be healthy.? Or, ?I am willing to do something active today.? Over time, those positive thought patterns will overpower the negative ones, helping you to see your available choices more clearly.
4. Squeeze It
Begin thinking about the different times of the day that you would be able to fit in 15-20 minutes of activating your muscles. Playing with the kids, in between meetings, while in the kitchen, on your lunch break, light stretch before or after sleeping, etc. You can make the time. Bring weights to work or fit in some push-ups where you can, ride a bike instead of driving your car, make plans with a coworker to attend a fitness class after work, take a stroll or bike around the park while your kids are at practice, walk to your classes, or do some sets in between studying. The possibilities become endless when you make exercise a priority. Where there is a will.. There is always a way!
5. Get an Accountability Partner
Sometimes we could use extra encouragement to stick with our goals so this is where a trusty sidekick comes in! It can be someone that lives close to you who will join you to exercise, or someone far away that you know cares enough to check in. Having their added inspiration may be just the boost you need! Plus you can share with them all of your improvements and hardships too. There?s probably something in their life that you can help hold them accountable to too.
