Do you believe that you are in control of your health or would you consider yourself to be a victim of your genes circumstances?
Modern medicine preys on the outdated way of thought deeming us victims of our genes. This genetic determinism is often used and means we are in the wraps of our own genetic heritage where disease runs in the family and there is nothing we can do to change our genetic fate. It teaches that genes control and regulate the body with DNA being the master.. but science now shows only a very small percentage of diseases are actually genetic. Less than 5% in fact, and typically only where someone is born with a birth-defect.
This means it’s time to take action and responsibility of our own health!
An emerging topic in the health world today is the science of epigenetics which is the study of the complex interactions of genes and the environment?s impact on human development.
Many of us have believed that our health and biology are determined solely by our genes. What the cutting-edge research of epigenetics reveals however is that our thoughts and our environment have a powerful influence on our health and can actually activate chemical switches in the body that regulate gene expression.
Dr. Bruce Lipton, a pioneer of epigenetics, claims that cells have the ability to perfectly reprogram their own DNA when the external environment demands it.
Of course there are many factors that contribute to dis-ease. Disease itself is a sign that our energetic systems are out of alignment.
The good news is that our beliefs and thoughts can change our DNA along with diet, the water we drink, the air we breathe, electromagnetic energy, etc.
It’s unfortunate that we’ve been influenced to live in fear of our genes. A lot of times when people go to the doctor and there is history of cancer in the family, a doctor may very likely tell that person they are a risk for cancer. Is that truly the case though? Is cancer a disease that runs in the family solely because of genetics?
Studies have now been done with adopted children who are brought into a family with history of cancer and the startling discovery is that the adopted children have the same probability as the natural born children to develop cancer. What does this mean? This shows that what is passed on is not the genetics for cancer, but rather the perceptions, beliefs, habits, diet, and other attributes of the family.
It should come as a relief that genes are no longer deterministic, they are only potentials.
Why not take control today? Put the power in your hands, where it belongs. Live the healthy life that you deserve.
Thomas Edison once said, ?The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.?
To help yourself stay healthy, give yourself every element the body needs: organic whole foods, clean and energized water, sunlight, oxygen, and time in nature. Invest time to take care of yourself mentally. Relax, partake in activities that you enjoy, get involved in your community, etc.
