Do you often feel overwhelmed with your to-dos? Do you forget important tasks and events? Do you struggle meeting deadlines?
If you answered yes to even one of these, my friend, you’re not alone.
Thousands of people go through the same hurdle, every single day. And it’s not because of lack of trying, it’s because they genuinely have a lot on their plate which makes them lose their focus.
Here’s how you can take charge of your days, weeks, and months: make a list.
Writing down your to-dos brings structure to your day. You have less to hold in your head, which means less forgetting and more doing. Lists reduce the anxiety of forgetting a task and pending incomplete tasks. On top of it all, every time you strike off a task as done, the sense of accomplishment alone acts as the boost you need
Tips On Making An Impactful To-Do List
1. Prioritize
Always have high-priority tasks up on the list and ensure to complete them by mid-day. This reduces stress and allows you to always accomplish pressing tasks.
2. Break into action points
Be very specific in your to-dos. Bigger goals need to be broken down into action points. For example, cleaning the house can be broken down into “dust the sofas”.
3. Be realistic
Resist the temptation of taking on too many tasks. You don’t want to feel overworked or stretched too thin. This will push you to give up in the longer run.
4. Go easy
Know that it’s okay to not be able to accomplish everything on your list every day. Carry forward the previous day’s list to the next and continue your journey to a more structured life
